As Natalie woke, she could smell the warmth in the air. She rose up feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep. Walking around the bed she tried to avoid the luggage scattered about the room. "How lazy of me," she thought. "My second day and I still haven’t unpacked all my luggage." She opened the cupboard looking for some nice clothes to wear for the day. "Ugh so little choice," she eyed the luggage as if it were a battle to be beaten. Deciding to give it a go, she took one of her larger suitcases and found some clothes. She hung a few in her wardrobe until she found the one she wanted to wear; a lovely tulip dress, it was quite light which was good as she felt it was going to be a hot day. Maybe it wouldn't count as hot for the locals but it certainly would for her. Natalie wasn't used to temperatures above twenty centigrade.

The dress was cream with pretty little yellow flowers all over. She scuffled through another suitcase to find some accessories, managing to get out a pair of cream high heels, a sun hat and sunglasses; she then closed the suitcases and put them slightly neater; so she could feel a bit better about the state of her room. She got changed and applied sun lotion, wanting to head out to the local market to find some fresh figs; it would be a nice treat with cream for breakfast she thought. Natalie walked along the cobbled streets. It was such a glorious day, she was so glad she had booked this vacation. Natalie worked in finance for a corporate company, she had a big workload at her job; she often ended up leaving work later than she should. Natalie always excelled at her work, which is probably the reason she had been given so many responsibilities. But now she was not going to think about work, she had two weeks in Greece to enjoy its culture and weather.

Back on the cobbled roads, Natalie kept getting distracted from her phone, which she was using for navigation, by the architecture. So different it was from the houses she was used to at home. She marvelled how square they were, almost like sugar cubes; all of them were cream, not differently coloured like at home.  She continued in the direction, her phone was telling her, the market was located. Slightly struggling on the cobbled street because of her high heels, she was walking awkwardly on when she crossed two boys playing in the street. They kept giggling looking at her, Natalie tried to ignore them the best she could; she wasn't going to let this small detail put a downer on her day.

At the market she arrived, it was busier than she expected for the time of day. The aromas were quite spectacular; there were cinnamon sticks and vanilla pods on display with their scent wafting across the whole market. The colours also were lovely with fresh tomatoes, melons, peppers and many other fresh fruits and vegetables making such a vibrant array of colour. After being tempted to buy many things she finally found the fresh figs, she bought as much as she thought she needed and then headed back to her villa. She had rented in a rural village partly because it was quite cheap, but mostly because she enjoyed a quieter holiday.

She gave the figs a quick rinse and cut them into quarters; putting them into a bowl she pulled out some fresh cream from the fridge and poured as much on as she could without being criminally over indulgent.
As she got a spoon out from the cutlery draw Marina her poodle came in, probably because she could smell the delicious food. Natalie decided to enjoy her breakfast outside and so went to sit on the patio, Marina followed her but being well trained she laid down and just watched as Natalie eat her yummy breakfast. In the distance she could hear guitars being played, the breeze was gentle and warm that carried the pleasant noise. It was very relaxing; she thought to herself that she would be content to spend every morning of her holiday like this.
